11. Exact proportion for moussaka ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡พ

Moussaka is a traditional eggplant or potato dish that is widespread in the Balkans and the Middle East. The famous Syrian Moussaka is made from eggplants stuffed with beef or mutton with tomato sauce, egg, flour and yogurt dressing, and finally baked. The recipe is usually made for four or six people. In order to prepare moussaka for twice the number of people or for half the number of people than planned, we calculate the amount of required ingredients using direct proportions. Two quantities are directly proportional, if the quotient of the corresponding (positive) values of the two dependent quantities is constant. Applying our knowledge of mathematics, we can even calculate the amount of ingredients needed to make moussaka for 35 people.
